The first two trees I bought, they were around 8 to 9 feet. I put
one in the front lawn and one in the back.
The front lawn boy has endured a fungus attack this summer,
and hopefully I'll get that taken care of this winter and spring.
The one in the back has been a true pleasure, as you'll see in the photos.

New leaves come in a brilliant red.

One day in mid May, I was working at the base and looked up and surprise!

She was nesting her eggs. Just two months later and the tree would have been too thick to get the photos.

Six days later, June 1st, Momma Cardinal feeding the chicks.

Father Cardinal feeding the chicks.

I see you!

Less than a year old, and this tree has brought me a lot of joy.

Time and Size Comparisons

This is the Front Big Boy, 11/4/07. He has
come to have a fungus problem over the
summer, so that's my new learning project.

11/2/08 Showing what I perceive to be a fungus problem. Literally no growth.

This is the Back Big Boy, 11/4/07. He's
turned out to be my pride and joy as time
has gone by, including helping bring some
baby Cardinals into the world.

Nov 2, 2008, with a growth of 35".

This guy has had a great year!
